F.R.O.G. Notebooks

First Graders are Really Organized Guys/Gals

The F.R.O.G. notebook contains the sections listed below. Entries are made daily so please look at all of the sections, especially the Parent/Teacher Communication section. Please see that your child brings  this notebook daily to school.


Parent/Teacher Communication










This is the notebook paper inside the F.R.O.G. binder. This will be for notes between you and the teacher.  Please stress to your children that this is ONLY for the teacher and parents to write in. We will be writing notes to you in this section and looking for communications from you there.  Please check daily and we will do the same for communications from you. We would also ask that you leave any notes that we may write in the notebook so that we can look back and remember any communications we may have had.  This will help us to remember what we've discussed. Please, be sure to date your notes to help us remember when we discussed it. Also, please remind your child to tell us when there is a note in the notebook from you. We try to check it regularly, but occasionally we get busy and a note may unread.

Super Duper Work to Keep

This folder will contain Super Duper work done by your "smart brained child." Please remove it nightly and discuss it with your child. After you have "oooed and ahhhed" over it. We’re sure you'll want to show off this work on the refrigerator. ENJOY!!!


Important Notes/Absentee Excuses










This folder will contain any notes from school, notes from our Principal, or the Temple as well as classroom information, etc.

Homework










This folder will contain homework papers. Please return them in the same pocket. Your child will also have reading homework on a nightly basis.

Reading Log

This folder will contain the Reading Log Form for the month.  Please be sure to fill it out with your child after they read for 15 minutes every night. This is a very important component to include in your child's daily routine as it will further their reading fluency and comprehension skills.

Money Pocket


Inside the binder is a pencil case.  Use this case to send in lunch money and forms, book orders, money for tzedekah, etc. 

Specials Schedule










You will also find a copy of our specials schedule for quick reference.  Please note P.E. days.

D'Nealian Writing Formation

There is a copy of the proper letter formation for D'Nealian Handwriting.  Please encourage your child to look at this when they are doing any writing for homework.  This will help them to improve their handwriting skills.

Spelling List

Inside this pocket is a copy of your child's Spelling List.  Please make sure that it is put it back in the notebook when you are done with it.  You will need it for the entire week.
